My mini World tour Nov 2009

I have decided to write a bit each day or so on this blog that might seem interesting to some people.

Japanese Doctors

Went to a specialist yesterday at St. Lukes Hospital, seemingly one of the 'best' in Tokyo. I have perhaps had kinder words coming out of "mastan's" than the ones that lady Doctor blurted out. The gist? She was 55 and was living alone, and had almost all hormone levels down to zero. And she couldn't care less if a person like me, who was 40, had somewhat lower hormone level than normal. She spent 15-20 mins harping over the same string: "lose your weight and all troubles will be over" and then, all of a sudden, she got real tuogh and nasty, "I have more critical 'real patients' waiting for me, and I can not afford to waste so much time for the likes of you, who aren't real patients - so if you will excuse me, I will call my next patient now!"

Well, finally managed to get her to re-test the testosterone and grwoth hormone - but that appointment is a month away on March 8th. Within this time, I have to look for alternative ways to get growth hormone injections. But have to perhaps check for any growth in my body before that. Else, growth hormone can trigger a 'growth in that growth' too.

She has an American degree and mentioned that hormone therapies are not considered medical treatment in Japan (and in the US too) and will not be covered by insurance. May be she is right. But isn't that a totally ridiculous concept that hormone treatment is purely a luxury!

USA Trip 2006

Well came to the USA on the 15th by American Airlines.  Via Dallas DFW.

The new airport - definitely one of the better ones I've seen and pretty

efficient too!  The Immigration officer was initially a bit scornful and made

some derogatory comments.  But as soon as the name of "JPMorgan" got

mentioned while answering his query about what I did in Tokyo, his tone

and texture changed (perhaps a bit too predictably!) and he was pretty

nice and respectful during the rest of the 'meeting'.
